With the financial support of The National Lottery Community Fund we have created further 10 weeks of FREE online activities for adults & children. You can find them on our Facebook page Czech & Slovak Club UK | Facebook .
![]() After the summer holiday we have welcomed children back to our online "classrooms" as their teaching in Birmingham and Nottingham supplementary schools continues via the Zoom platform. Oxford school has been fortunate to be able to continue hybrid teaching, as 2 lessons take place online and 1 lesson remains at their existing venue. ![]() As we are unable to deliver our traditional activities due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we are working hard to create new FREE online activities for all family members with financial support of Birmingham City Council. - Folk dancing for children & adults - Czech & Slovak language classes - ESOL & Conversation classes - Workshops for children, with Birmingham based, Czech artist - Tereza Buskova - Children Quizzes & Quiz nights for adults - Advice services & keep well sessions. You can find more information about these activities on our Facebook page: Czech & Slovak Club UK | Facebook ![]() Open Day in Nottingham supplementary school is postponed due to the Lock-down. Majales in Birmingham could still go ahead if the current situation improves. Czech & Slovak supplementary schools had to convert to online teaching and Birmingham Czech & Slovak school took this opportunity and enrolled new students from all over the UK. We are part of “Talking About Suicide Prevention with Polish & Eastern European Communities” at the Repertory Theatre in Birmingham.
The event was supported by the Local Government Association as part of the national suicide prevention strategy to help organisations from across the city to understand our Eastern European citizens perspectives on suicide, self harm and mental health as these are communities that are over represented in local suicide statistics. The event brought together community and voluntary sector organisations, and public sector stakeholders, to hear from experts and community members and explore opportunities for action. ![]() This years event was hosted by Slovak TV celebrity Mr. Peter Sklar whom welcomed our distinguished guests; the Slovak Ambassador HE Lubomir Rehak, Mr. Martin Hosek from the Czech Embassy, Mr. Pavol Hammel, Dr. Telensky & guests from all over the UK. The entertainment was provided by the amazing DuoBand and DJ Brano who kept everyone dancing until 3am. The videos from the event can be found on our FB page together with fabulous pictures from Sweedovci photography. We had a really amazing evening full of laughter, dancing and singing until the early hours of the morning, excellent food and out of this world raffle prizes from our main sponsors ŠKODA UK and Dr. Telensky. Can't wait for our next event.
![]() Great fun was had by all at yet another event for Czech & Slovak community in West Midlands, where children and also some adults stood for the first time on the ice, all learning to skate together. Some have seriously improved. A big thank you to Planet ice at Solihull for welcoming us at their wonderful venue. |
