About our school
Our school is a non-profit supplementary Slovak school/nursery & Czech school/nursery for children from Birmingham and the Midlands who want to maintain their language and culture and find out about the history and geography of what is today called Slovakia & Czechia.
The school and nursery is run by volunteers who dedicate their time to building children’s confidence in speaking and reading Slovak/Czech. We believe that classes, especially those run on Saturdays, should be fun and therefore teaching is combined with activities, such as arts and crafts, music, dancing and sports, all related in one way or another to the Slovak/Czech language or culture.
The classes are designed for children from both bilingual families and families where both parents are Slovak/Czech. Children from a multilingual background will grow into fluent users of Czech or Slovak and English language, with their rich, intellectual, social and economic potential, will become a great asset for any country in which they will live. Their awareness of social, linguistic and cultural differences will be beneficial to many.
We also run Traditional workshops and Folk Dance classes for children/adults and organise special events and holiday activities for a wider public, which include celebrations of Easter, Christmas and St. Nicholas Day, Olympic Games, days out or themed workshops.
All our activities are organized for all communities that are interested in our culture. Czech and Slovak work alongside as we believe in the closeness of the cultures and languages.
Our school furthermore works closely with the Czech & Slovak Embassy, USZZ, ISEIA and other supplementary schools in UK.

Školu i škôlku vedú dobrovolníci, ktorí venujú svoj volný čas pomáhaním deťom, aby získali sebadôveru v rozprávaní a čítaní.
Naša škola a škôlka spolupracujú s Českým a Slovenským Veľvyslanectvom, USZZ, ISEIA a s ďalšími víkendovými školami v Anglicku.
